Dr. Michael Sommers is a doctor of chiropractic with a passion for helping patients feel and function at their very best. Following his graduation from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2005, he began developing a unique blend of manual therapy known as Complete Chiropractic Care. Combining his extensive training in Active Release Techniques®, sports-related injuries, and biomechanics, Dr. Sommers has designed a thorough, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. The goal of this approach is to provide patients with immediate improvements in their health and well-being.

Dr. Sommers is an avid rock-climber, long-distance cyclist and a runner. He also maintains a regular meditation practice. He lives in Toronto with his wife Erin.

Dr. Eric Nelson, BA (Hons Kin), D.C.

Dr. Eric Nelson graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2015, and  is certified in Active Release Technique for soft tissue injury management. Being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, he understands the importance of therapeutic exercise or active rehabilitation in injury management. He is also a certified Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider through his training at McMaster University. Guided by a comprehensive assessment, Dr. Nelson utilizes a number of different tools to help his patients function at their highest level.

Dr. Matt Lepore, B.Sc (Hons), DC, Acupuncture Provider

Dr. Matthew Lepore graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2019, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Kinesiology from York University. He is also a certified Functional Integrative Acupuncture provider and works as a trainer with many high level amateur athletes. Guided by a comprehensive assessment, Dr. Lepore utilizes a number of different evidence based tools and movement screens to help his patient’s function at their optimal level.

Dr. Lepore is a lifelong learner and continues to further his education by taking courses/seminars. He holds certifications in Functional Range Conditioning, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization and has completed research in the field of concussions.

Aside from his professional career, Dr. Lepore was born and raised here in the Toronto area and is now looking to give back to the community. He enjoys exploring the outdoors and playing sports such as hockey, golf and baseball.

Brendan Pynenburg, MSc Physiotherapy

Physiotherapist

Brendan is a graduate of the MScPT program at the University of Toronto, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from McMaster University. He has helped patients recover from sports, motor vehicle, and orthopaedic related injuries and pain.

Brendan uses a detailed assessment approach to find the underlying causes and contributing factors to your injury or pain. Brendan’s treatment approach combines individualized exercise programming and manual therapy, while providing you with a better understanding of your injury.

Brendan believes in lifelong learning to stay on the leading edge of research. He is registered in courses in manual therapy, advanced treatment of the shoulder, and acupuncture.

Brendan enjoys being active and outdoors. He is an avid runner, cyclist, and weight lifter, among other sports. He has volunteered teaching swimming lessons to children with disabilities, and with elderly patients in hospital.

Robin Dickie, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Robin Dickie is a registered massage therapist with a keen interest in helping patients achieve optimal physical function. Robin successfully completed her massage therapy studies at Centennial College in Toronto and is fully licensed with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

Robin has an extensive therapeutic background and has treated a variety of clinical complaints that range from repetitive strain injuries to high-risk pregnancy and palliative patients at several Toronto Hospitals. In addition to her clinical work, Robin has shared her expertise with new parents, providing workshops and classes in infant massage. Robin is passionate about massage therapy and the positive effects it can have on people’s lives. She has a particular therapeutic interest in providing care for over-use syndromes such as carpel-tunnel, sciatic pain, migraines and headaches.

Even when away from work, Robin won’t give her fingers a rest; much of her spare time is spent learning and practicing flamenco guitar.

She looks forward to working with you at Evolve.

Tomas Rickus, RMT

Tomas first obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree from McMaster University. Subsequently, his love of learning and the human body inspired him to complete his studies at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy in 2016.

In his accelerated year at Sutherland-Chan, Tomas had the opportunity to treat many different conditions in clinics such as, Seniors Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic and Breast Cancer Clinic. Tomas has been at Evolve for over 2 years now and has extensive experience working along side of all of our amazing practitioners as well as treating low back pain, persistent pain, acute sprains and strains, and much more.

Tomas is also working as a full time instructor at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy allowing him to bring his clinical knowledge into the classroom for the coming generations of Massage Therapists.Outside of the clinic, Tomas enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and golfing. Tomas is a huge Toronto sports fan and you can bet he will be cheering on his Raptors every game!

Sharon Tan, RMT

After graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario, Sharon followed her passion for manual therapy and completed her studies at Sutherland-Chan to became a registered massage therapist. Currently, Sharon is continuing her studies at the Canadian College of Osteopathy to better her clinical methodology diversify her assessment and treatment techniques.

In her treatment, Sharon works with the patient’s nervous system, using Swedish massage, fascial techniques, craniosacral work, joint manipulations, and exercise prescription to promote the body’s own rehabilitative functions. She is particularly experienced in treating athletes, both in injury recovery and performance optimization, as well as patients with low back and chronic neck issues. Sharon believes in lifelong learning and is continually inspired by the process of working with each patient to create the most effective treatment plan for that individual.

Outside of the clinic, Sharon can be found continually challenging herself with acrobatics and calisthenic training.

Emilia Wojtasiak, RMT

After Emilia graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelors in General Arts with courses focusing on Kinesiology she decided to pursue her passion of the care of the human body at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy to become a Registered Massage Therapist.

While at Sutherland-Chan she performed and studied scar tissue work, sports massage, manual lymph drainage, pre/post surgery treatment, and Swedish massage to help facilitate healing her patients. Emilia focuses her treatments on rehabilitating the body by manipulating it’s nervous system. She does so using techniques such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, therapeutic exercise, myofascial release, Swedish massage, and joint manipulation. She develops a specific treatment plan for each individual catered to their daily lives and personal goals!

Outside the clinic Emilia enjoys camping, playing multiple sports, rock climbing, and travelling. She improves her understanding of the human body through her own activity and is always open to trying new things!
